Chinese state media say at least seven people were killed and 22 injured in southern Tibet by a powerful earthquake that struck in the Indian state of Sikkim.
The Xinhua news agency said Monday the quake caused hundreds of landslides that disrupted traffic, power and water supplies in Tibet's Yadong county, which is just 40 kilometers from the epicenter of the 6.9-magnitude quake.
Chinese authorities have mobilized workers with heavy equipment to clear debris from roadways to make way for relief efforts.
