Severe flooding has hit the Irish capital, Dublin, leaving one person missing.
The police officer is feared dead after he was swept away by the flood waters in the County Wicklow area.
The region received torrential rain, resulting in quickly rising water levels. The flooding overwhelmed homes and businesses, disrupted rail travel and flooded roadways. In some instances motorists had to abandon their automobiles. Several drivers had to be rescued by boat.
The severe rain disrupted air service at Dublin Airport. The airport authority encouraged passengers to check road conditions Tuesday before driving to the airport.
