A U.S. drone strike has killed at least eight suspected militants in a troubled region in northwest Pakistan.
Pakistani officials say missiles destroyed a compound Saturday in the North Waziristan tribal district, a key sanctuary for Taliban and al-Qaida insurgents.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry condemned the strike, reiterating that U.S. drone attacks in Pakistan violate its “sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Pakistan says the drone strikes are counter-productive because they cause civilian casualties.
The U.S. has given no indication it intends to halt its drone campaign.
