South Korea says it will host high-level diplomatic talks with Japan and the United States next week about North Korea.
South Korean foreign ministry spokesman Cho Byung-je says the diplomats in Seoul will discuss developments on the Korean peninsula after Pyongyang's failed missile launch on April 13.
Lim Sung-nam, South Korea's ambassador for the nuclear issue, will host the three-way talks. Japanese nuclear envoy Shinsuke Sugiyama and U.S. special envoy to North Korea Glyn Davies will round out the talks.
The foreign ministry spokesman says the three will discuss other North Korea issues, including its nuclear program. The three nations are part of the multi-party talks, along with China and Russia, that are tasked with negotiating with North Korea to disband its nuclear program in exchange for economic and humanitarian aid.
