The heaviest rains to hit Beijing in more than six decades have killed at least 10 people and forced the evacuation of tens of thousands.

The official Xinhua news agency reported Sunday that the storms, which began Saturday, could continue through Monday. The government says Beijing's suburban Fangshan district received 46 centimeters of rain Saturday, breaking a record set in 1951.

Officials say the death toll could rise, with media reports of numerous people, including rescue workers, missing.
