Senegal is inaugurating a new parliament Monday with a coalition led by President Macky Sall's party holding a large majority.
Mr. Sall's Bokk Yakaar coalition won 119 of the 150 seats in an election earlier this month.
The legislature features a record 65 women, which is nearly double the number of the outgoing parliament. The July 1 vote was the first since Senegal passed a gender equity law boosting the number of female candidates.
Lawmakers will serve five-year terms.
