A court in Moscow has ruled that Internet websites must remove video footage of a Pussy Riot band performance in which they protest against President Vladimir Putin.
The court ruled Thursday that the video set in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior is too extremist, and ordered “restricted access” to it.
Two members of the all-female band are serving two-year prison sentences on charges of hooliganism and spurring religious hatred. One was given a suspended sentence.
Mr. Putin's critics have called the Pussy Riot trial a political move aimed at suppressing dissent.
But the band's February protest in Moscow's main cathedral has angered many Orthodox Christians.
It was not immediately clear when the ban will take effect.
The court listed websites carrying the clips and said they could be blocked if they don't remove them.
