The U.S. Geological Survey says a 7.3 magnitude quake was detected near the Aleutian Islands in the Pacific Ocean, about 172 kilometers east of the fishing village of Atka. The USGS detected the quake at a depth of 40 kilometers. There have been no reports of injuries or damage.
