Voting is under way in Poland's parliamentary election, which looks likely to return centrist Prime Minister Donald Tusk's Civic Platform Party to a second four-year term.
Final opinion polls last week indicated the ruling pro-market party held a lead over the opposition.
In a poll published by the Gazeta Wyborcza daily Tuesday, the PO received 31-percent support, while the opposition conservative Law and Justice Party – led by former prime minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski – had the backing of 21 percent of the 1,000 people polled.
Exit polls will be released when voting stations close Sunday night. The election commission will release the first official results early Monday.
The opinion poll indicated that three other parties would also win parliamentary seats in the election. The new socially and economically liberal Palikot Support Movement, the Democratic Left Alliance and the current coalition partner, the Polish People Party.
