Japanese markets closed lower Thursday, while the U.S. dollar is unchanged in trading against the Japanese yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index lost just over two percent (181 points)) to finish at 8,560. The dollar was selling at 76.46 yen. Gold is trading at $1,766.74 an ounce.

Japanese markets closed higher Wednesday, while the U.S. dollar is trading lower against the Japanese yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained nearly one-quarter of one percent to finish at 8,741. The dollar was selling at 76.36 yen, a loss of one-tenth of a yen from Tuesday. Gold is trading at $1,809.25 an ounce.
