Tokyo Stocks Up, Dollar Flat

Japanese share prices ended higher Friday, while the dollar was flat against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained four-tenths of a percent , to close at 9,974. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 79.21 yen, up slightly from late Thursday. Gold was selling for $1,580.90 an ounce.

Japanese share prices ended higher Friday, while the dollar was flat against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained four-tenths of a percent , to close at 9,974. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 79.19 yen, up slightly from late Thursday. The Taipei market gained 1.10 percent , to close at 8,575.

Japanese markets closed lower Thursday, while the U.S. dollar is higher against the Japanese yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index lost just over one-quarter of one percent to finish at 9,936. Gold is trading at $1,592.74 an ounce.
