Tokyo Markets Down, Dollar Up

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped 1.04 percent , to close at 9,578. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.77 yen, up three-tenths of a yen from late Friday. Gold was selling at $1,499.20 an ounce.

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped 1.04 percent , to close at 9,578. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.71 yen, up three-tenths of a yen from late Friday. The Taipei market fell four-tenths of a percent , to close at 8,500.

Japanese share prices ended higher Friday, while the dollar was lower against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained nine-tenths of a percent , to close at 9,679. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.20 yen, down three-tenths of a yen from late Thursday. Gold was selling at $1,522.60 an ounce.

Japanese share prices ended higher Friday, while the dollar was flat against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained nine-tenths of a percent , to close at 9,679. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.49 yen, nearly unchanged from late Thursday. The Taipei market lost four-tenths of a percent , to close at 8,533.
