European stock markets were lower in midday trading Monday. London’s Financial Times 100 index slipped slightly to 5,851. The CAC-40 in Paris lost six-tenths of a percent to 3,866. Tokyo Markets, Dollar Down

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar was flat against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index fell 1.2 percent to close at 9,380. The dollar was selling at 80.18 yen in currency trading, down slightly from late Friday. Gold was trading at $1,544.16 an ounce.

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar was flat against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index fell 1.2 percent to close at 9,380. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.34 yen, unchanged from late Friday. The Taipei market gained six-tenths of a percent to close at 9,046

Japanese share prices ended lower Friday, while the dollar slipped against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index lost two-thirds of a percent , to close at 9,492. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.61 yen, down three-tenths of a yen from late Thursday. Gold was trading at $1,531.78 an ounce.
